“When I’m writing, sometimes it gets to that place where I feel like the piece is writing itself and I’m trying not to get in the way.”

moodyandsaundra4_6I am new to the whole “pricing” thing that self-publishers must do when publishing their own work. But when I originally published Moody & Saundra as a digital download, I figured $2.99 would be the highest I’d go. And I’d rather start off higher and have to lower it than starting out lower and raising it. ‘Cause I just didn’t think the latter was fair.

So, after it being on the market for almost two months, I decided to lower the price by a dollar. I feel good about it. And doing some searching around of other publications, $2.99 was rather pricy considering the length of this short story (meaning, it’s not a full-length book). I did receive a few sales, and I appreciate those. They got in on the ground floor! Now those who bought it in its first two months can say, “Remember when it was $2.99 and we bought it? Yeeeaaaaah.”

Ha! But, yes, I think lowering it to $1.99 is a good call, and I am actually considering publishing another short story of mine (about the same length of 8,000 words) also as a digital download. I’ve actually already picked out a potential stock photo to use as the cover. It doesn’t hold the original idea I had in mind (as I couldn’t find a photo that adequately portrayed what I was envisioning) but I think the photo describes the story in a weightier manner… which is good.

NOTE: The price has currently only been lowered on Amazon and Smashwords. It’ll take a little while for the cost to translate to the other retail markets.

DOUBLE NOTE: I’ve enrolled this ebook in Smashwords’ Read an Ebook Week promotion they have from March 3-9. So, if you want to get a copy of Moody & Saundra this week, grab it from Smashwords for FREE (make sure you enter the coupon code “RW100“)!!!
